TACTILE MAPS IN PARKS OF RĪGA

TACTILE MAPS IN PARKS OF RĪGA

Now Riga’s parks are yet another oasis of accessible environment and universal design.
We are pleased to announce the results of the 2015 spring-summer season. We have
completed the development and installation of tactile stands in three parks in Riga: Miera
dārzs, Ziedoņdārzs, and Grīziņkalns. A total of 12 stands have been installed. Now every park
has a tactile plan that can be used by any person, including the blind.

A lot of work has been done, in which experts from different fields took part. I would especially
like to note that a graduate of Baltic International Academy, Kristina Karimova, took an active
part in the development of graphic layouts for information stands. We really hope that people
with visual impairments will actively use tactile stands. After all, this is an additional source of
information about your hometown.
